Remembering Angelita 'Angie' Hernandez Saenz

American GI Forum of Texas, Inc. Report(Corpus Christi, Texas) Angelita Hernandez Saenz, 77, of Corpus Christi, TX a long-time Lifetime member of the American GI Forum (AGIF) passed away August 28, 2016. She was born in Kingsville, TX in 1939. Angie graduated from Texas A & I University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Education followed by a Master’s Degree in Marketing from University of Houston. She was married to Roque Saenz from 1961 to 1977. Shortly thereafter, she met her lifetime companion, Joe A. Garza with whom she spent the rest of her life.

Angelita Saenz had a 37year career in education with Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) which she began at Sam Houston Elementary School followed by Roy Miller and King High Schools. She was a proud member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and American G.I. Forum as well as many other organizations. She was a very active member with the AGIF WestPort Women's Chapter for many years and gave much of her time and resources to benefit young people. Through her Chapter she donated to many worthy causes. 

Angie Saenz was a very successful business woman who owned her own real estate company. She enjoyed leisure activities including BINGO and slot machines. Angelita was survived by her two sons Roland Christopher (Michele) and Rocky Charles Saenz (Blanca), six grandchildren Rocky, Russell, Ryan, Ronin, Rex and Angelina Saenz, four siblings Lorenza Padron, Florinda Carrion, Zenon Hernandez Jr. and Yolanda Galindo. She will be missed.
