Dr. C.P. Garcia, Last Remaining Brother to AGIF Founder Dr. Hector P. Garcia, Dies

AGIF San Antonio, Texas -- Dr. C.P. Garcia, who was the last living brother of the American GI Forum Founder, Dr. Hector P. Garcia, died Sunday night April 24th in a San Antonio hospital.

The 92-year-old medical doctor died of complications from a heart attack suffered about six weeks ago. Days after he was discharged he began experiencing more difficulties and was readmitted on Saturday. Not abel to recover from this setback, he passed away on Sunday.

The doctor in recent years practiced medicine and participated in the American G.I. Forum until about two years ago when he started having health issues.

Dr. C.P. Garcia lived in San Antonio with his wife Elizabeth, and daughter Mary Gayle Arambula, and son Adrian Garcia. Other surviving children are Libby Garcia from Pueblo, Colorado, and Damian Garcia from Dallas. He also is survived by his sister Dr. Dalia Garcia, several grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The American GI Forum of Texas is sadden at this loss. Commander Martinez, the State Board of Directors and the State Office offer condolences and prayers to the family.
