Longtime AGIF Friend Lester L. "Buddy" Williams, Jr. Passed Away February 16, 2015

LESTER L. "BUDDY" WILLIAMS, JR., age 79, a resident of Irving for 48 years, died Monday, February 16, 2015 in Carrollton. Born October 21, 1935 in Rio Grande City, Texas, the son of Lester Lee Williams, Sr. and Maria Leija Williams, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea.

Lester was a good friend of the AGIF/NVOP and attended many of the meetings held throughout the country. He was also present at most National and Texas State Conventions. He had many friends within the organization and he will be missed. The American GI Forum as well as the NVOP offer their condolences to the family and ask that all members keep him and his family in their prayers.

Buddy married Corina Herrera on May 31, 1959 in San Antonio. He was a member of the Church of the Incarnation at the University of Dallas campus in Irving. He was a Regional Administrator for Region V - Dallas  Veteran's Employment and Training Service and had been a government employee for 48 years, retiring in January, 2012.

Survivors include his wife Corina of Irving; sons. Lester Williams, III of Irving and Wayne Williams and wife Tanya of Grapevine; daughters, Lisa Levermann and husband Charles of Shreveport, Louisiana, Carla Rivero and husband William of Irving, Karen Almaguer and husband Manuel of Irving, and Angela De Leon and husband Alfonso of Coppell; grandchildren, Austyn, Cherie, Andie, Taylor, Madison, Wilson, Olivia, Sarah. Braxton, Sam, Mia, Allie, Ava and Alex; two great granddaughters, Charlie and Chelsie.

Visitation is 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 22 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving with a Rosary to be said at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 23 at the Church of the Incarnation, University of Dallas Campus, 1845 East Northgate Drive in Irving. Interment service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane C.
