Dear Corporate Friend,

The American G.I. Forum is the largest, and longest standing veteran’s organization for Latinos.  Since its inception we have served over thousands of Latino veterans through our AGIF structured program, Texas Relief Program which includes:  food drives and distribution, health and policy advocacy, pandemic relief for everyday essentials, rides to medical appointments and mental health awareness for our veterans upon their tour return home.  Pre-pandemic we were fortunate to raise funds through our local chapters (nationally), fundraisers and annual conferences.  Unfortunately, the pandemic changed how we operate our fundraising and outreach efforts to our veterans in that our program has been concentrating on veterans in rural and low income communities.  Due to the unexpected snow storm in Texas, we have set up the Texas Disaster Relief Program Fund to assist during this new statewide emergency in Texas.

One year ago, the pandemic brought many challenges, and as recovery was in sight through the rollout of the vaccines, a major snow storm hit Texas.  Many of our veterans (including their families, children and pets) have been displaced and are suffering.  The veteran population that we serve for the most part, is already displaced due to some form of physical and/or mental disability, not to mention financial hardship.  The pandemic had widened the hardships experienced by our veterans and the snow storm took away what little they had:  shelter, food, services from non-profits and medical assistance.  Our veterans have helped many during a pandemic and/or disaster, not only in the United States, but around the world.  It is our turn to help those that have helped us. With your financial help, the AGIF is ready to help!  Our volunteers are fired up and ready to help our veterans during this difficult time.

The AGIF  is proud to serve as a voice for our veterans and with your support, we will be able to secure essential supplies for our veterans (their family, children and pets): temporary shelter out of the cold, blankets, socks, food, water, personal toiletries, masks, disinfecting wipes, pet food/supplies, etc.  In the past, your support for our veterans has made a real impact.  Your support today will save many lives, which is why I am reaching out for help.  All contributions will be made out to the AGIF.  They can be mailed to the AGIF Texas Disaster Relief Program, 635 W. Corona, Suite 114, Pueblo, CO 81004 OR for wire instructions (as you have done in the past),  in-kind contributions and W9’s, please contact me for further instructions.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and contribution.  We appreciate your continued support and know that you are saving lives!  Gracias!

Respectfully,

Patsy M. Vazquez-Contes

Vice President of Development
