Celebrating 72 Years–
American GI Forum 2020 National Conference is Now Work-in-Progress!

American GI Forum of Texas, Inc.: AUSTIN, Texas –The National Conference Committee headed by Texas CEO Gil Rodriguez began working on the upcoming 2020 American GI Forum of the United States National Conference is now scheduled for July 30 thru August 1, 2020 at the Wyndham San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel, 111 E. Pecan, San Antonio, Texas 70205. A contract with the Hotel has been signed and a block of rooms has been set aside for AGIF Delegates and guests. The Texas AGIF also has a signed contract between National Commander Larry Romo and State Commander Ceasar Ruiz outlining responsibilities and work assignments for the Conference.

Austin Chapter Will Host Annual Christmas Awards Dance December 21

American GI Forum of Texas Inc. Report: AUSTIN, Texas–The Austin Chapter will host its annual Christmas Awards Benefit Dance on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Wyndham Garden Inn Hotel, 3401 N. IH-35 in Austin, Texas. Chapter Commander Armando Longoria and his committee are working diligently to assure attendees a memorable evening during the Holiday Season. This year’s annual awards event will be honoring retired Judge Bob Perkins for his many years of work for the community with a special award. Two Austin Chapter members will also receive awards for their work and dedication to Veterans and their families and our community.

Meeting Registry Fee: $25.00-includes coffee/pastries/breakfast tacos for early arrivals, starting at 9:30 am thru 10:30 am, meal plate after meeting (catered or sourcing restaurant location).

The Board meeting convenes 10:30 am and will continue through the lunch hour. Commander Charles Doria and meeting coordinator Jesse Sanchez are available for any questions on rooms, directions and available parking.

The meeting is set to start at 11:00 am, however, the Finance Committee which includes the Executive Board will meet at 10:00 am to discuss and approve the Budget for the coming year. Everyone is welcome but only the Board members can participate. The Budget will later be brought up before the entire board for ratification.  The Agenda will include a complete Financial Report, a brief report on the State Conference in Seguin and the Officers’ travel budget and state office expenses. State Commander Ceasar Ruiz will be including other important items and updates on the property sales and reports on the Bingos. The meeting will be open for discussion on all important items. Discussions will include the 2019 National Midyear Conference in Corpus Christi in April, the National Conference in Las Vegas and State Conference last June in Seguin.

Also, on the Agenda will be the upcoming 72nd National Conference presently being planned in San Antonio, Texas in July 2020 and hosted by the State AGIF.

Members are reminded that dues for 2020 are due by January 1. For those wanting to pay early, dues, charter renewal and assessments received during and after the month of October will be good until December 2020.  To avoid additional late fees please have dues and Charter assessments paid no later than January 25, 2020.

Past National Commander Angel Zuniga, co-host of the 2019 Mid-year conference will be present to make a report on that event. Commander National Commander Larry Romo will make a report on the National Conference held in Las Vegas last August.
