FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

American GI Forum of the US National Commander’s Statement on President Trump’s on Recent Military Combat Injuries

As the National Commander for the American GI Forum of the United States (AGIF-US), I, Lawrence Romo, agree and stand with our fellow Veteran’s Organization; and support the VFW National Commander William “Doc” Schmitz comments below.

“Veterans of Foreign Wars cannot stand idle on this matter.  TBI is a serious injury and one that cannot be taken lightly. TBI is known to cause depression, memory loss, severe headaches, dizziness and fatigue – all injuries that come with both short- and long-term effects.”

President Trump’s comments minimizing the effects of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) to merely headaches demonstrate his lack of knowledge and understanding of the severity of TBI.  The VA medical professionals recognize that TBI causes depression, memory loss, severe headaches and fatigue – all injuries that come with both short – and long-term effects.

The AGIF like the VFW advocate for our military, veterans and their families.   We always advocate that our military receive the best medical care while they are on active or reserve duty; with continued care as veterans provided by the Veterans Administration upon either separation or retirement from the military service.

The American GI Forum National Commander also agrees with the VFW that President Trump should consider apologizing to the servicemembers that were injured.
