Dear American GI Forum,

Good afternoon  my name is Megan Devir and I am a NY-based producer with NHK, which is Japan's national public television network, very similar to the BBC or PBS. We are in the research phases of an  upcoming project about the participation of U.S. troops in activism while stationed in Okinawa during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

We would very much like to connect with veterans who served in Okinawa during the Vietnam War and we wondered if you might have any advice or connections that might be helpful as we seek out these veterans. If providing you with a list of names that we are interested in is helpful, I am happy to do that, and we are also very open to any veterans whom we are not already aware of, who may have been in Okinawa during this time.

Our filming, which of course is tentative at this point, is planned for July/August 2020 and the program is set to air in early fall 2020. We are hoping to film in person in a distanced fashion with a limited/small crew, and of course Zoom or Skype interviews can be backup plans, as well.

Thank you so much for your time and please don't hesitate to let me know if I can provide any other info that might be helpful!

all best,

Megan
